Hey! Just wanted to let you know of an issue I'm having - I think this is likely related to the AO3 server issues but just in case it's not wanted to flag it for you. When I run the command I go through all the steps, it will say 'downloading', and then immediately start over without downloading anything. Any thoughts? Thank you!

I think I'm having the same issue, too. I've just started and it goes through the first page of my bookmarks and then stops. And it doesn't even get all of those, either I've got 17 files downloaded when I've got dozens of pages of bookmarks. I had been half hoping to set this up to go overnight and then just leave it, but I think I'll have to wait a bit.

Confirming I am having this issue as well, it ran beautifully in December - I saw that there are some rumblings about it being based in Ao3's server issues (a few weeks ago at least).

It will go from logging in, to downloading, will stop about 7-10 fics in, and then prompt me for the menu again.

On another install, my initial attempt got through 19 pages last night and then kept stopping there - bookmark downloads, logged in - but now it won't get past page 1.

I also tried to do a 'get urls' pull for the bookmarks link and it just errored out. (One time was an http error code I can't remember, this time it was 'Error encountered while getting links list. List may not be complete.')

I tried limiting the number of pages, and doing unlimited - same thing (just including this for troubleshooting!).

I went through all the troubleshooting section just to be sure!

Thank you for this tool it's a godsend =)

On different attempts I've received the following errors:

  • HTTPSConnectionPool(host='archiveofourown.org, port=443): Read timed out. (read timeout=30)
  • 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'find'

As mentioned, it definitely worked great in the past, but attempts today has been... not so great. Attempting to get links resulted in just a small % of them getting saved, and attempts at downloading fics directly comes up with nothing.

edit: per this ticket, it's likely an issue on ao3's side that's causing the errors. i would follow that one for updates

Hey! I'm also currently having issues with these errors:

  • HTTPSConnectionPool(host='archiveofourown.org, port=443): Read timed out. (read timeout=30)
  • 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'find'

Also get the error where it says "downloading works" and then it just asks if I want to display the menu again.

Has there been any updates on ao3's servers? It's been a month and I still cannot download any works, sadly :(

Unfortunately I am also having the same issues. It's been really rough since end of February/beginning of March and it's like pulling teeth with the code. I've tried the other things as well, but it will either download 1 fic at a time or maybe download 3 fics and gives up. Downloading links also doesn't work. I really hope we'll resolve this some in near-ish future :(

Bumping this - I have the same issue where it says "downloading works" and then it just asks if I want to display the menu again.

Exact same problem, even if I use only one link. I get the "downloading works" text and then nothing

Unfortunately this is not an issue with the downloader itself, AO3 had just recently upgraded their hardware and is currently being rather hard on any scrapers and downloaders. I use this program + calibre's fanficfare and I run into issues with fics being downloaded smoothly - at times I won't have any issues but most of the time I will face errors with timeouts especially with using the log-in function.

From what I know they are still in the midst of smoothing out the kinks from their recent upgrades. It was supposed to be ironed out earlier this month but now it's something that we will have to deal with until May at the soonest.
